I'd say China's best strategy is to await a Trump presidency, or something similar in 5 or 9 years' time. Then just bribe the US to weasel out of the (rather limited) commitments it has given to Taiwan. In those circumstances China could probably get its way through intimidation.
As is standard these days, attention shifts to equally impossible idea of a blockade. Given a bit more room, would admit that "blockade" in the standard sense isn't feasible either, move on to "grey zone" deniable attacks on shipping etc 2/2
