I don't think the case of a "hung opposition" has ever arisen: it requires at least three opposition parties. But there could be six in UK case (if I'm counting correctly) and seven if Sinn Fein decided to abandon abstentionism.

... why should it require three opposition parties? In the UK, 650 seats. Party 1, 326; parties 2 and 3, 162 each. Oz (to take an odd-numbered case)-- 151 seats. Party 1, 77; parties 2 and 3, 37 each.
