Finally saw Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Everyone's good in this but Dan Aykroyd is really extra good. Kumail Nanjiani is fine in this too. The directing is not the most controlled, it's a bit choppy, maybe the B story about the girl seems forced, but the story pops with wild ideas. A cool ride.

"Eega is a slapstick romantic comedy... about a fly and his human girlfriend conspiring to ruin a man’s life and then murder him for vengeance. A man who is murdered by a wealthy businessman, reincarnated as a fly, makes it his mission to exact vengeance on the man who killed him."

I doubt they believe any of what they're saying about it. They just found another way to scare voters. "They're taking away your way of life!"

Yeah they're attacking energy standards (standards most manufacturers are fine with probably) but if they keep saying "take away your appliances" a good many idiots will repeat that phrase and assume it's literally that.

Republicans are actually claiming Biden wants to take away appliances?
"Republicans introducing bills targeting energy efficiency standards...with names such as the 'Liberty in Laundry Act, Refrigerator Freedom Act' & saying: 'No bureaucrat should ever scheme to take away Americans’ appliances'

Self satirizing stupidity here, or else a really seamless put-on.

Yes it does sound like that here. I like fireworks--at a fairgrounds, somewhere like that. Not all night, just a 35 minute or so show, controlled by experts, firemen on hand. Not in a neighborhood where it destroys peace for so many, where it creates local air pollution, where it starts fires.

as for this New Empire thing, it's like a ride at Universal Studios or something. Too hackishly written (mostly) to be anything more. But it's fun.

The ruling will likely have seismic ramifications for health policy. A flood of litigation—with plaintiffs like small businesses, drugmakers, and hospitals challenging regulations—could leave the country with a patchwork of disparate health regulations varying by location

X-Day is a traditional part of the Church of the SubGenius, a religion formed as a parody of cults and extreme religious groups. X-Day...the Church prophesies an army of alien invaders who destroy the world of "normals", "pinks", and "glorps..."

If it's true the polls suck due to calling landlines & generally weakly based contact with people, then Biden (or Harris?) will likely beat Trump, but ...the big danger then becomes interference at voters. Magas & far-right plans in-person interference with voters. What is being done about it?
