My personal limit is sparkling fountain designs, the quiet ones, not the ones with crackling or whistling charges. I myself do enjoy a controlled display of pyrotechnics, but the obnoxiously loud hissing and popping is understandably nerve wracking - for both veterans and pets.

I don't mind small bang-poppers or stuff like that, though my favorite are the little spinners. Used to toss those into the road as we took walks around the neighborhood. My problem now is commercial-grade fireworks are legal in my new state of residence and they were already being used last night
