for instance: in the last 5-6 years, call of duty's guns have gotten incredibly high-fidelity and accurate, especially w/r/t military models and weapons civilians don't have ready access to. the reason for that is probably the intuitive one: the institution with those weapons gave them direct access

guns are probably a bad example as a general category here, actually, because some are incredibly accurate and some are incredibly Intentionally Inaccurate while preserving the feel/vibe because they don't want to pay the gun companies a licensing fee. point stands for bigger miltech (missiles, etc)
