At other schools, kids with very poor parents can get a free or reduced price lunch if their parent does all of the paperwork to sign up. The others pay full price or bring a lunch from home or don’t eat. Yes — it’s ridiculous.

Found the designer version of DLL Hell: one computer had “static fonts” and one had “variable fonts” installed. Queue my editing software falling back to Arial or some default followed by a hunt for every text box that escaped my attempt to use styles.

The maximum shown in the UI (300) is graphemes, not UTF8 bytes (or UTF16). The protocol lexicon allows fields to be limited by each of these. And the post text field has limits on both (300 and 3000). So counting “ as only 1 out of 300 is correct.

True, some intermediate hops might need shoring up but we don’t need to rip out the wire all the way to the elevator. Hopefully not even to the building. Even SHAKEN/STIR with a modern endpoint relies on that trust: it is AT&T signing the thing saying it is me.
