One thing you can't say about the 6 justice majority is that they can't imagine or think a hypothetical parade of horribles won't happen. That's not this case. The wolf is at the door. The litigant in this case is the person who already was president, attempted a coup and is a career criminal.

plenty of R agent/leaders truly believe Ds will destroy their republic w woke anti-western reverse-racist tyranny. not the same as pizza-gate or Q-anon but sociologically allied. maybe Roberts too. or maybe lost in theory clouds. Alito seems more clear.

We really need to admit they are simply being incredibly disingenuous and dishonest. The entire decision reeks of bad faith argumentation. It's tailored entirely to prevent Trump from going to prison - in any of the trials he currently faces.

They know. They may lie about it, but they know. The "hypotheticals" already happened and are in progress.

I’m genuinely not sure; I think it’s a distinct possibility that some like Roberts might just be extremely stupid. Not about constitutional law in the abstract, mind you—no doubt he’s brilliant at that. But about plenty of other things, especially how abuse of power works in the real world.
