This is horrifying. Why do we let people like this continue to drive, let alone remain in positions of power? Devastating.

Do things like TCP over ICMP still get around these internet blocks?
I got free internet from comcast for a couple years back in the day just by setting the DNS servers manually on my router.

Simple experiment... ask 10 random people, drivers license holders, what the hand signals are for right, left, and stop.
As a cyclists, it's not safe to act like a vehicle, because the people we entrust to operate motor vehicles don't know how vehicles that aren't cars act.

It always appeared as an internal problem (maybe the switch?) but when my mobile data was gone too, I did wonder if everything just went to hell...
Glad to see society didn't collapse under the strain of no internet.

Lost my internet connection, both wired and wireless devices. and my cellphone on mobile data.
Restarted switches, access points, modem appeared fine the whole time and direct wiring to that worked (sans DHCP cause my modem doesn't handle that).
Then everything came back, for seemingly no reason.

Do they have power, is there a hurricane, is democracy under threat in their area, do they pay a living wage, is the ice cream machine working? This is the public private partnership the country needs.

The real problem here is the lack of a mandate for consistent reporting from fastfood restaurants on the state of the country.
We need a simple API we can query across all fast food chain (waffle house, whataburger, McDonalds, etc) to track the state of the nation.

Every democrat in office calling for Biden to drop out should be facing questions over why they didn't run in the primaries, or have some one else run. Why they thought Biden wasn't old when it was repeated, ad nauseam in every publication in the country for multiple years now.

Biden was beatable in the primaries, they choose to run no one, now they are angry about it; tough shit.
They could have run against Biden, they opted not to, the parties stretched the elections to be a year long, can't decide you only want a 4 month campaign cycle after dragging it out to a year.

Here is where I'm at.
Telling us that Democracy is at stake, and throwing out the primary election results is some how the only way to save it... because the best way to save democracy is to ignore election results we don't like any more.
FUCK THAT SHIT.

No no, we need to freak out over every gaff, and completely ignore that trump keeps going off the rails.
If we don't it might not be a close election (After all we've done this before and we know the outcome) and we NEED close elections, for the economy, otherwise who will spend Millions on ads?

If Bush, or Regan had right-wing think tanks this ready to push them around and force their agenda through the executive branch they'd have been worse.
Trump gets some credit for them being this ready, he said the quiet parts aloud to roaring klan applause, and those orgs upped their game.

Trump was ill prepared to be president the first time around, most of his term was one scandal pushing another scandal out of the news cycle.
Don't get me wrong he is equally ill equipped this time around, but the federalist society and heritage foundation are drafting paperwork for his signature.

Right!
The time to replace Biden came and went, but apparently AFTER he secured the nomination (but before he receives it) he got older in a fashion that anyone with a calendar could have foresaw. How'd they not see this coming? It's not like the Biden=Old is a new storyline.

If dick really believed that he'd have shot Trump in the face already... Actions speak louder than shot guns.

Bicycle is out of commission while I wait for spokes and hub... So I pumped up the tires on the old (circa '04) mountain bike.
I'd forgotten how much of a difference a suspension fork makes.

My buddy runs a small dumpster company, he is regularly called about getting bagsters that waste management wouldn't take for whatever reason.
His trucks are smaller so he can often get them when they can't, or he drops a bin and people need to move stuff over by hand.

Media has been salivating at the idea of a convention floor fight for decades.
It's the most drama you can get out of politics shy of a constitutional convention.
And the fact that they egged some high profile congress people into agreeing it's a great idea is only going to encourage them.

I get that biden isn't the ideal candidate... but I'm struggling to understand how to save democracy we need to ignore the primary election results and just have a few national convention delegates pick who is going to be the nominee.
Feels like maybe that is doing the opposite of saving democracy.

I'm not going to pretend to remember the election that well...
But looking at Wikipedia, and doing some quick math, ~32k votes across NV, NM, & IA would have swung that election.
but the GOP back then wasn't quiet as reactionary as the trump party of today.

And before any one starts with "they can't be that short sighted" remember that until 2020 pandemic most mail in voting ballots swung heavily towards the GOP, and they turned on that when they just thought maybe it might be bad for them.

Same goes for Puerto Rico state hood, and congressional representation for DC... both parties platform says they want it, but until PR is electing GOP senators don't hold your breath.

The moment a GOP candidate wins the popular vote and loses the electoral college the red states will jump on the national popular vote compact.
But since they've only carried the popular vote once since the 80's (with an incumbent president) don't hold your breath.

In other news did you know that this supposed "commander and chief" has generals! He isn't actually on the front lines telling each infantry man what to do!
Low energy, Joe can't even run a whole country with out "staff" what a looser! (no one look into if trump had staff!)

Unwatchable because it was boring?
Because getting a bunch of "government just needs to leave me alone" people together to create a government that just leaves them alone seems boring.
Now toss one HOA president Karen into the mix... Now we've got television!

Vacation week is ending.
Saw Shakespeare in the park, went camping, got new handlebars on my wife's bike (still need to tape them), visited some breweries... All and all a good week off not working.
Panaramic photo up and over of our campsite and lake Superior.
Cause why take normal photos?

Got parts ordered, talked myself (and more importantly my wife) into a new hub since I'm going to be rebuilding the wheel with all new (matching) spokes anyhow.
Combination of a better free wheel, and the belt drive should be super quiet...
Still need to pull and destress the wheel tonight...

It's weird how good it is some times, but also weird how bad it is sometimes.
Last night I got in the car to get carry out for dinner, didn't NEED navigation, but sometimes it routes around traffic... It tried to send me to a city in California.
