That’s been my take as well. I genuinely didn’t think he’d get convicted, and maybe that means I’m wrong about the sentence too. But I don’t think the election will be affected or that the US pulling hard right is something that would go away even if he died.

Like a guardian dog is generally huge and can be deadly if they become aggressive, that’s true. But unless it’s in full murder mode, there is a chance of training and maybe finding them a better environment, but I just want to acknowledge that this does represent most farmers I’ve spoken with

Like to me the cognitive dissonance is just too strong and I’m fully aware that most dogs that bite once or twice can still have a good life and should at least be given a chance at the shelter, but they seem to think that’s just criminally irresponsible even if the shelter has a place for biters.

As a lefty that is deep in farm facebook and has designs on my own small farm in the future, I will say that a lot of famers, especially older ones, truly love their working dogs but seem to have no hope for even mildly agressive dogs.
