Former google engineer here, and yeah. That's the actual story, though it guess back to 2008 at least. But yeah.

True, and me too, but neither of us own companies that could definitely make more money if they didn't have to worry about whether people like us are eating a little more rat feces and metal shavings. People who do own those companies have money to buy judges, unfortunately (for us).

Earnest question: are they visual enough and are their waters clear enough that they know and recognize each other's scars?

Genuinely good - it picks its battles in the adaptation to keep very true to the emotional heart of the story. I loved both immensely.

When I was in my early 20s I read The Economist most weeks during my commute. I understood them to have a position, politically, but mostly it was a lot of discussion of market mechanics and I learned a lot. Their recent covers are such gross mask-off moments that I'm retroactively embarrassed.

American conservatives are such strange little birds to me. They're *desperate* to be ruled - their SCOTUS just made our presidency effectively immune to law - but only by individuals their personal dignity admires. They won't obey some gunky result of the democratic process, no. Ruled, though? Yes.

Sounds like you and I both know that there's no time like the time you have that's just you and running water. Desert kid stuff.

For what it's worth, I've been doing that reducing for a while and i see similar effects. The hard part is finding what's next with the extra, happier time I've got. No answers yet, though.

As a kindergartener in Animas we took a bus trip to the chiricahuas, and it's a deep joyous memory for me. Drop a pebble in a creek if you get a chance, it's a special place.

Every time this comes around I just don't understand why other families didn't use the bathroom trash can. Trash and barf? Natural roomies. It's right there by the toilet if the scene starts unexpectedly, and after the curtain it's back to trash. Why do people use a bowl? I don't understand.

Democracy, in this reading, isn't an Institution - It's an Ideal, and those are impractical to support too hard when you're an Important Institution like the NYT.
