Friends! Here's how to remove ai from your google searches using the example; fantasy horse
Fantasy horse, before:2023
Brings up everything posted ONLY before the year 2023
Fantasy horse, -ai -prompt -stock -openai
Gets rid of MOST generative images and includes current/recent images
One one hand thst can help but on the other I really hope people don't do that because that means artists that start out nowadays have no chance to be discovered because they didn't start before 2023.
I also want to add for those who still use DeviantArt that's there's a filter you can add to your browser that blocks AI images from your DA feed. It's on Github.
To clarify some things because I've seen it mentioned a few times;
I only mentioned Google search because that's what these search functions work in. I don't how the other search engines work, hence I can't help there.
Yes, there are other SE's.
Alternative SE's will have the same ai image issues
The second option of search won't exclude all ai generated images because it also pulls from POD and stock sites which are inundated with them and incorrectly tagged. But, it will filter most out so you can hopefully find what you're looking for! I hope this helps someone out there
I've given up on using Google Searches for reference images, and instead use Pixabay, since the images there are royalty free for any use purpose. Pixabay also has crap A/I junk but they do label most of those as such.
Also try using Duck Duck Go or something besides Google, because Google is increasingly trash and apparently ignores advanced search parameters sometimes.
Wow! Thanks so much! I work in IT in a school where AI is a huge issue between the education staff and the students. I am going to share this with the teachers so they can “encourage” their students to make the right choice when researching their assignments.
I use the blacklist extension for Firefox. Whenever I see one of these sites it's easy to click 'block website'. Also helpful for filtering out stock photo websites and Pinterest.
Wish there was a working extension that re-enables "view image" in google search though
There's actually an extension, and a specific pastebin of ai websites, you can use on desktop browsers to block these sites! www.tumblr.com/cutabello/72... has the deets
OMG I was just trying to filter out plagiarism software while looking for reference photos for drawing and was so frustrated and it’s like I rubbed a lamp and summoned the best genie. That’s you. You’re the genie. Thank you so much, use the other two wishes for yourself, please.
