In the past year, it seems like The NY Times has gotten far more biased and insular. Their coverage of Gaza, trans rights, campus protests, and the election have been so biased or sensationalist as to be useless. The Op-Ed page is half lazy hacks. I mostly subscribe for games and recipes now. Sad!

I made it up but I’m also in my 40’s so it could be true. The TikTok algorithm mostly just shows me dads who built elaborate setups for their hobbies so I can make the Tim Allen grunting noise in approval. (The NY Times style section said the sock thing is true.)

Everyone on TikTok is into writing low-level software now. To Gen Z, using Python or Node is like wearing ankle socks, though they have mad respect for flawless C code (and even more for 6502 assembly code).

I’ve always wondered if it would end up being reverse flu season in some climates. I live in Louisiana and fall/winter/spring is the outdoor time while summer is when we stay indoors. Flu season is in winter but maybe COVID’s niche is summer? I don’t know if it’s a good hypothesis or not.

Kendrick Lamar teaches us that, in public debate, refuting your opponent's arguments point by point is less effective than identifying your opponent's single greatest weakness and maintaining message discipline.

Don’t get the viral. I had one once I immediately regretted the entire experience.

Otis Redding’s version too. I saw an interview with Keith Richards where he said it was unfinished and the label released it anyway and it was a massive hit so they accepted it. But he wanted to do more with it.

Jokes on her if she swallows me and takes my powers. Kirby’s gonna be sitting at the neighborhood bar talking about how his sciatic nerve is acting up because he tried to move a filing cabinet.

I was busy* last night too but my understanding is that the big winner of the debate was The American People. Everyone came away more informed and excited to participate in the democratic process.
* I watched it rain because I’d rather eat a bowl of hair than be more informed about Trump or Biden.

That isn’t even divisible by 3! The American people demand more decimals to know if Biden hit 1/3.
It obviously doesn’t have to be divisible by 3 and I’d hope their methodology was better than “robocalling thousands of people at 9:30pm EST” but it still seems like a bad use of polling.

She grew up right outside New Orleans and went to an (obviously Catholic) high school in the city. She might end up having some unexpected views.
The Catholic conservatism here isn’t “better” but it is different from Bible Belt conservatism, even within Louisiana. You get strange coalitions here.

They really went with a whole “The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal loaves of bread” doctrine.

No, you just pick one when you’re registering to vote and you can change it at basically it any time. It only matters in places with closed primary elections (where only registered party members can vote). You don’t have to pay member dues or sign up with the party or anything.

Which future? The Skynet one we’re pretending to be on or the Biff Timeline were actually on?

If the delegates coalesce around Gretchen Whitmer, maybe? I think a popular midwestern governor looks good on paper.
I also agree it’s silly for Biden to drop out and a new candidate put together an entire campaign on the fly. TV ad buys for September are probably already reserved.

Leaving the Democratic Party doesn’t mean not fighting fascism. It doesn’t even mean not voting. I live in a very blue city/district in a very gerrymandered red state so the closed primaries are the election. I’d happily register as an independent but I’d essentially be disenfranchised.

Exactly 2/3 and 1/3 implies their sample size was like 9 people.
