here it was freaking 2023 and I realized for the first time ever that my writing style came straight outta this. I had no idea. I knew I liked it. Remembered it fondly. Recced it if people wanted vintage sword and sorcery, but if somebody had asked for my influences I wouldn't have thought of it.

I'm aware of how plastic memory can be and it makes me hesitant to revisit some things, and I've decided that's fine. I'm a big fan of "Sometimes it's the story that's the most important thing", and that can include the stories we've told ourselves.
