I don't think competition or collaboration makes sense. Wolfe seems to be completely off in outer space. I don't follow Wolfe closely, but unless Klein is severely and maliciously misrepresenting her, there's nothing of value to learn from her except the perils of hubris.

Thanks for the heads-up, and the illuminating conversation that ensued. I left a comment. I'm not at all an expert, but it seems to me that those of us who aren't elderly or immunocompromised but who frequently deal with people who are should have these boosters.

I have family members who dislike Trump but hate Biden because he's... a communist. I'm trying to convince them to either not vote at all (that's legit, especially if you're conservaitve!) or vote 3rd party. Biden feels so frickin' conservative to me, I can't comprehend why they hate him so much.

Social media isn't reality. Although I do agree that the Nakba is suddenly the cause du jour, and that a lot of people don't know much about what they're talking about. But that doesn't excuse the US response to the current acts of genocide.

"A ton" is pulling, literally, a lot of weight. Biden has done some good. He is a spectacular President compared to most presidents of the 21st Century. But he is complicit in genocide, he strongly supports the police, and remains committed to making deals with people who operate in bad faith.

It's really an incredible book. It starts out feeling like a goofy lark on an understandable if unfortunate mix-up, but expands and expands until it seems to encompass the entire political landscape of the US right now.

Ultimately, the quoted comment is about the US support of genocide in Gaza. I also actively oppose that. But how is it that people who (presumably) get the importance of harm reduction when it comes to needle exchanges don't understand voting as harm reduction? Also, liberalism == conservatism.
