“Wait to learn more” is not picking sides. It’s not believing or disbelieving one party over another. It’s recognizing that a major source of information is sketchy af and we need more information.

Thing is, I see this stance mostly from folks in the sff author scene who might know gaiman personally, which feels more like potentially protecting him, than "we need more info".

Just give it a few days. Me, I think that breaking this news over a major holiday in the US, during which rumor can get its legs before fact can catch up, is pretty sketch.
