I agree with you there. The issue with being a minoritarian candidate is that a significant portion of the population will automatically view you as illegitimate unless proven otherwise. Not running or winning a primary and being installed as the candidate would compound that insurmountably.

My larger problem with the Democratic party is their focus on "earning it". They care less about winning and more about whether a candidate earned a chance. The mere existence of racism/sexism in society means more white men get that chance to "earn it".
