In the early Twitter days science types would show up and post when they had a new paper. Wonderful! But real talk y'all: papers take ages to write. So, post about other people's stuff! You read a paper and it was cool! Or you had a question! Or it tied to this other thing! Tag the authors!

Yes! That was what I liked most about Twitter. It was like an online version of roaming a poster hall, listening into the discussions & scientific debate.

Thank you. Twitter is dead, killed by a musky creep.

Bluesky is a wonderful place to hang out and chat. I appreciate all the scientific contributors!!

Anyone here doing free circulating tumor DNA analysis? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on-, and handling of- baseline 'controls'

I’ve seen people say things along the lines of “Bluesky isn’t for self promotion, if you wanna post papers do it elsewhere” it seems this platform gets used mostly for random “discourse”… I initially tried posting new papers here but haven’t done so for ages despite having them 😢🧪 bc no interaction

Because the feeds can be a bit flaky perhaps there is some hashtag that can be used? Genuinely enjoy seeing new ideas.

I'm still excitedly telling everyone I know about the Trilobite Pompeii paper. Any time we learn more about the soft-tissue anatomy of trilobites is pretty cool in my book. I don't think any of the authors are on this hellsite, sadly.

Maybe but one aspect of BSKY that I really enjoy is the lack of people "shouting" about science all the damn time. I realise on X, I derived a lot of satisfaction once I'd blocked out most of Earthquake Twitter and could then enjoy cat/dog posts, and each time a cyclone/hurricane was brewing.

I’m still marveling at the post by @costasamaras.bsky.social where he’s summarized like six of his papers by results GOOD or BAD

This should be the new standard for abstracts
