It really is amazing how music transcends the ravages of Alzheimer’s. Midway through my mom’s fight with it, we were on a drive and I laughed when I saw a license plate. I read it out, “867-5309,” and Mom gasped, then sang it. Earlier that day she’d called me “the nice lady who drives her around.”

It is fascinating how that works. We are struggling with this with my mother in law, can’t really find music that she enjoyed well enough to still know, she was not really a big fan of anything.
