As a ginger gentleman of a certain age who has grown up in the nasty sun of Aotearoa I've officially reached the point in my life when they start chopping bits of skin out and sending them off for biopsies.
Use sunscreen kids, your future self will thank you.
Already have a scar from a spot removed and confirmed carcinoma just from the lifetime of exposure on my open-neck-shirt skin.
PS they're not all big moles.
My blonde and blue eyed mother had prescription sunscreen in the 1960's. She adored the beach and the surf, but had to retreat to the shade as soon as she got out of the water. Luckily, she had olive-skinned children, but she still covered us with zinc goo.
Iβm so pale I practically glow π but Iβve always been all about the sunscreen. I even have long sleeved togs π I donβt leave the house without sunscreen but still sometimes get burned π€¦π»ββοΈ
I hope the biopsies are all clear. I had a mole check with a dermatologist 10+ years ago, I really need to do that more regularly, being somewhat ginger myself, and having been very careless in the harsh Aotearoa sun for far too long. I wish the proper mole map thing wasn't so expensive.
Same. Well, not a man and didn't grow up in Aotearoa but had enough biopsies to feel really salty about the anti-sunscreen "wellness" influencers trying to harm the next gen.
