Every single year has been worse than the last, when it comes to the completely obscene energy greed of Bitcoin mining.
Probably a decent chance it ends up causing more harm through this than machine learning training / inference ever will...

Almost certainly, but that doesn't mean we should continue to promote AI being used for purposes humans can do better. We can go after both.

Truly the lowest of low hanging fruit for emissions reduction. Plus strictly tightening BTC regs might put a dent in the viability of ransomware attacks (British hospitals!)
