I'm flashing back to an anti-ableism ad from decades ago in the U.K. It showed a child reading a chapter book, and a man in a wheelchair reading...I forget what. The caption was "People think we're at the same level." It stuck with me. It was posted by the charity now known as Scope.

Put trains where people want them, and people will use them. Minnesota and Illinois have been battling Wisconsin to get this route for lit. years. To put it into perspective, it's about 7 and a half to 8 hours compared with 6 hours or so driving and a 90 minute flight.

There's a few in Agenda 47, including things like not teaching kids gay/trans people exist, dismantling public education...unfortunately Trump only does videos and I ain't going through them all and listening to that voice for hours.

Depends on how early he's starting his day. He didn't even say he was going to work less hours. Your circadian rhythm shifts earlier as you age. He may have just realized he needs to move to an earlier pattern!

I read into that much more of a desire to kick out the Tories...and likely a feeling that independence isn't going to happen any time soon and trying to drag England back into the EU (which I also doubt will happen, but seems more likely) is better...than Unionism per se.

My primary hope is that people might...although the way the numbers are it's not that high a vote shift...be starting to see that the Unionists do not hold the answer to Ireland's problems. They are, in fact, the cause of Ireland's problems. We might not get it in 2024, but I have hope.

So, a lede that is being buried from yesterday's U.K. elections. The most powerful party in Northern Ireland is no longer the Conservative and Unionist Party. But it's not the Labour Party either. The party with the most seats in Northern Ireland as of today is: Sinn Fein.

HRC was unelectable and we'd probably be better off if she'd realized that. I think she would have made a very good president, but too many people see her as either a way for Bill to get 8 more years or a fool who stayed with her husband after he cheated or...she just has too much baggage.

I actually think some people don't consciously *realize* when they are. But if President Harris scares you more than President Trump and you *aren't* a fascist, then you really should think about that. (She doesn't *excite* me because she's so quiet, but I'm sure she'd do fine).

The Tories were never, in my opinion, "center" right. They weren't hard right, but Thatcher, like Reagan, just looks center right because both of their parties veered even further right since.

We've also already likely lost the non-compete ban that would have been game changing for everyone...including people who want to keep their doctor or therapist when they get out of a toxic practice and have to walk dogs for two years or move across the country.

Yes, and our democracy is somewhat influenced by their democracy, somewhat by some indigenous traditions we stole, and somewhat by the Althingr. The Althingr survives almost untouched in the European style of parliamentary democracy, though.

I've never seen it here. It's easiest to find in the great lakes region unless you know somebody who fishes. My preferred preparation is battered, fried, and on a hoagie bun with lettuce and tartar sauce. (You're supposed to have tomato, but I hate tomato in sandwiches).

Then do it for everyone! For example, one VERY common accommodation autistic employees ask for is to have the meeting agenda ahead of time. Unless you're disorganized, you can do this for everyone. Or, say, a quiet room. Who couldn't use one of those sometimes?
