We can stop this by quickly cutting greenhouse gas pollution, especially of fast-acting climate pollutants like methane, aka natural gas. We can invest in the grid, making sure infrastructure can handle demand spikes from air conditioning.

And wherever possible we can move to ground-source heat pumps for air-conditioning, which require far less electricity.

We can make air conditioning more accessible, especially to vulnerable people, and more efficient - through better hardware and better control software. We can curtail noncritical electricity demand when grid capacity is needed for potentially life-saving AC.
