The dogs in the photos have food, water and shelter and are exercised every day. Mushing is expensive, not profitable. Mushers depend on their dogs and vice versa. You cannot make dogs run, as many novices have learned.

I sent my youngest to a Lutheran preschool as it was the best option where we lived. He was disgusted by the 20 minutes a day bible stories, but I told him to just be a good sport about it, as the rest was good. (We are total atheist/agnostics).

Sled dogs brought us together and they and a love of kindness keeps us together. We raise money for village schools on the Iditarod trail during the race. All year round we celebrate dogs and other pets, and support each other.
