Yeah, Democrats are approaching this election the same way that Remainers approached Brexit in the UK - "yes the EU is a bit shit but leaving it is even worse". Not a very good strategy.

Not a very good analogy since the brain is the organ used for thinking while the leg is used for walking, and Biden is running for president not the 100m at the Paris Olympics.

I am not saying that it is a lot, but it should ensure that in real terms the spending on pensions doesn't go down. Or have I misunderstood how it works?

A bit surprised at the work and pensions having gone down 40% despite the triple lock in pensions. Does this mean that the "work" part has gone down by a lot more than 40%?

It's true though, nobody ever asks the question of whether it is better to be in a boat with a tremendously powerful battery underwater or take your chances with a shark that bit off a lady's leg without asking who she was.

don't forget, it wasn't just a joke. The SEC came after him for that tweet, and he had to pay a $20M fine and agree to have a babysitter who would approve his tweets before posting them. Something that he then ignored.

My favourite thing when waking up in the middle of the night due to jet lag was to go to the Tsukiji fish market, and then have a sushi breakfast. Although I think the market has now moved? I haven't been there in ages.

Beautiful and peaceful landscapes (especially after busy Tokyo). Highlight was walking through the steaming craters & hot springs in Noboribetsu / Jigokudani.

I remember there was these discussions back in the day. Some people felt that games should be scored to a curve with an equal number being <5 as >5. Edge's position was that it was an absolute scale, and few games are so flawed that they deserve a failing score.

Pythagoras and Parmenides (a couple of centuries before Eratosthenes) knew that the Earth was spherical so the fact that the sun rises/sets a different times depending on where you are on the sphere follows logically.

Exactly, from what I understand it has to do with a new regulation coming in effect in 2024 that prevents companies from combining data from different services, e.g. Instagram with Facebook. And as Threads is using Instagram accounts it may fall foul of this.
