Pup butt. After meandering away from the group, this one came bounding back into the grass to start stalking up on its littermates (off-camera in the upper left background).

Now you’re ready to delve into the world of stationary. I didn’t want to admit it but writing on nice paper with a fountain pen makes a difference.

The only acceptable animal to compare any of these assholes to is ticks. I love all animals and find the good in them. Ticks are pure evil.

Could be part of it but I think it’s part of the broader bias against predators. We’ve come a long way in the last few decades but not far enough.

Ugh this is terrible. Denning is very effective and horrible. Predators deserve respect also.

I have my suspicions they’re on Bluesky now. I’ve noticed a lot of new accounts doing nothing but talking about Democrats are morally wrong for sticking with Biden. This is all so obvious it hurts.

Our Supreme Court and Governor Kelly do a lot of heavy lifting on that front. There might be a lesson for the rest of the country there…

Excellent article from @npr.org about the tall grass prairie! It’s a special place I wish more people here in Kansas and elsewhere cared about.

Oh yeah there are some wild stories from the dust bowl. Some of it was for survival (jacks were an easy source of protein) but still. Kids getting out of school early and bekng bussed to a round up to thump rabbits is brutal.

You can still find wild peaches in some areas of Kansas from these trees! I tried some that were originally brought here by Exodusters and they tasted like freedom.
