There's also I think a belief that because a leader isn't showy it doesn't mean they won't do drastically harmful things. But Mitch McConnell is a deeply bland and boring man and he has done so much deliberate harm and damage. Starmer is likely to be his UK version.

that's the thing isn't it? it will be boring for them, steeped in their privilege, delighting in their obliviousness to bad things happening because it's not 'the' tories doing it hell johnson's approval in apr 2020 got to 66%. it was the party stuff that brought him & the party down. little else
