The argument that "If presidents are subject to liability for their criminal acts in office they will just pardon themselves, so we should not make them liable for their criminal acts" is at best specious.

My stupidest idea yet is that Biden should deliberately commit some teensy federal infraction, like littering at a national park or something, and then attempt to pardon himself just so it can be litigated. Probably too late now, but it feels like it would have gotten the issue some attention.
