No. Besides the fact that Ladybird was always striving for accuracy, the book had been in print for many years by this point. Commissioning new cover artwork was expensive. The reason will be that some research emerged at the time that led them to believe this was more accurate.

Another of the great mysteries of Stonehenge. Why did Ladybird revise this book in circa 1965 - removing the horizontal stone? They thus changed the scene from historically correct to incorrect. Artist: John Kenney
