Forget the top of the ticket. It’s not Trump, it is a responsible adult, we’re good. What we NEED is for the down-ballot dems to show up at the convention with a PLAN for how they, as Congress, will right this ship. Court reform, filibuster, whatever. Show us the vision.

Our used book store has outdoor shelves with 25/10 cent books on the honor system. Lots of encyclopedias. We’d go get them (and readers digest novels) to cut up for projects in design school. So CAN get rid of them if you’re willing to sell them to art kids for a quarter in the middle of the night

We had the maroon early 90s edition AND my mom’s green-and-cream 60s edition and would look things up in both to see what had changed. The old ones had the anatomy overlays for humans AND frogs

There’s an argument that social media is feeding it, because it’s so much easier to see people across the economic scale and make comparisons to your own situation. “people are having a hard time” AND “I can’t afford that fancy thing” both feel like the economy is bad, even if you’re doing fine!

I’m glad they’re having the college diploma ceremonies. My (large, state) alma mater does both and the college ceremonies are the good ones. More personal, more folks you actually know, and shorter!

This has always tripped me up about the gentrification conversation — you end up with folks actively advocating against putting a grocery store in a food desert because it’s “gentrifying,” but with that logic nothing ever gets better for underserved neighborhoods
