Thinking a lot about this article today after three relatively junior women, including me, resigned from my department—two of us deciding to leave academia entirely—in a little over a month.

English universities are also underfunded. When Hugh Brady was in charge of Bristol Uni, the uni had a financial crisis around 2020, but his salary was increased significantly at that moment... He and people like him are the reason why university students and staff struggle so much.

The public don't know how much mismanagement is going on in the universities. UK universities have been trying hard to cover up problems so that the public are unaware of any of the serious problems with these unis.

When I was a PhD student, our university sports clubs always had training sessions on Wednesday afternoons. So I would leave my office then and have some training for 1 or 2 hours and come back to work feeling refreshed. I wish I could still do the same to deal with Wednesday blues.
