Prometheus for me is one of my favourite ships. For how ugly and practical it is. It’s clearly the Tau’ri’s first attempt at a ship. And inside that constant thrum of noise, and how everything is chunky, practical and off the shelf, a ship clearly built with a budget in mind.

I think it’s the fantasy element and lack of interrogating how those elements work that doesn’t do it for me in Star Wars. That how can you have the science fiction elements with the magic. I like magic stories, urban fantasy too where it buts up against science.

I just cannot get into the Star Wars universe. It’s right up my lane, big science fiction universe. Long form stories that aren’t just the movies. But I just can’t engage with any of it. Star Trek, love it. But Star Wars, I can’t suspend my disbelief, can’t relax into watching / enjoying it.

I still think this of myself, and it’s led to some terrible dates because I’ve not thought I’m worthy. One of the worst was a guy, whom I worked out was a feeder. I made a quick exit through the cafe’s kitchen, and that fucked with my self image and trust for a while.

Watched Doctor Who; kinda feel like this series has said it doesn’t need to wholly make sense. As long as the experience is fun and engaging. You can revisit it, pull it apart, maybe write new stories to plug the holes. It’s kinda like the classic series, but knowingly doing it.

You can set most washing machines on a timer so they can start just before you’re up. To try and get an additional load of washing in during the day. Or so it’s not on when people’re asleep.

Sitting in my motel room in West Wyalong I was trying to recall why I booked this particular one. Then I remembered. It was the cheapest. It’s perfectly fine, dated, concrete brick block construction, but it’s perfectly fine. I’ve stayed in much worse places.

Nearing the end of my road trip. I went: Melbourne to Hillston, Hillston to Cunnamulla, Cunnamulla to Aramac, Aramac to Ingham, stayed there for 2 nights, but went up to Cairns during the day. Then Ingham to Emerald, Emerald to Hebel, and Hebel to West Wyalong, and then tomorrow I’ll return home.
