I think for me it's just that I rarely have a reason to dip into those places. I like having justifications for why I'm going into the middle of nowhere, like FNV, and thus I never really get into games like Skyrim or Pathfinder Kingmaker where you have a lot of locations that are just there

Yeah, I got that feeling. Honestly, the whole system exploration thing felt half-baked in general since you only get one interesting planet per system and a couple duds. Also, surprisingly easy, but I think that's welcome after two games made for the biggest Pathfinder munchkins alive.
