Speaking as a writer of mysteries, I can say with confidence that my foreshadowing, at least, is very, very carefully planned.

Well I'm no writer, but I for one think you should just let the words flow, and then if you get stuck just add in the discovery of secret passage and a twin nobody knew about in the penultimate chapter. If you get really stuck just add in a wizard.
