Saw your video over on X. Your normal speaking voice is soothed and on the quieter side, adjust your tech setup accordingly. If you're in this to be a pro you might look into how to increase the performance aspect of your voice. Less "loud whisper" more diaphragm (1 opinion). Rooting for you

Once again, automated license plate readers are found to have major cybersecurity flaws that can put people at risk. Law enforcement needs to stop collecting data that it is incapable of protecting.

What's the utility of the like button for you? It sounds like you use it to check for authenticity of audience. Anything else? I mostly used it to save funny gifs.

If this tech was about saving lives we would give it to our ambulance workers. They would look at 70%+ inaccuracy & give us back a solid number of 911 callers who would never receive help due to ambulances too busy responding to false "gunshots". It wouldn't be political or controversial.

A big thing missing from Shotspotter reporting is context of what the 70%+ inaccuracy costs us. If we knew which police services never occurred or were late because police were busy hunting loud noises in poor neighborhoods we could have a proper conversation.

Love to see it. Surprisingly not mentioned: this is next to a significant transit hub. To be fair, didnât mention that it floods here either.

Got a note from GMâs spokeswoman today: as of yesterday, the company stopped sharing data for âSmart Driversâ with LexisNexis and Verisk.
According to an internal document I saw, that means at least 8 million peopleâs data now not being shared.

The results of my investigation are shocking. If data brokers can help extremists target misinformation to patients at Planned Parenthood, right-wing prosecutors in red states could use that same information to put women in jail. Protecting Americans' private health data has never been more urgent.

The journalism will never stop but I think the newsroom concept as we know it may have been hit by an asteroid awhile ago. Look at what @josephcox.bsky.social and team are doing at 404. Bears very little resemblance to anything I know of, except scoops all day.

I mean when the asteriod hit it took awhile for all the dinosaurs to finally die out. The extinction event isn't when the last traditionally funded newsroom closes, it was when the funding model broke & created a new environment hostile to continued survival. Isn't that right?

Good to see you here. Given the headline image, the article seems to be going out of its way to avoid discussing the possibility that this extinction event has already occurred and that we are witnessing the near and midterm aftereffects.

The next few days will involve a lot of drama regarding the upcoming attempt to dismember the TRUST Surveillance Oversight Ordinance that I helped write and eventually get passed into law. I'm happy to share details here in the Blue if people reply saying they want that. Otherwise I'll spare us all

Highly suggest all my followers hire themselves for an unpaid part time job resisting the spread of unchecked surveillance in your city. Benefits include making new friends in the community, losing 90% of your free time, and getting in to public debates with your mayor and police chief.

I mean look, the whole thing back in the day got started because over-informed people in our city were willing to talk pretty openly about local news. Let's just do that for a bit?

Curious what a civil rights or 1st amendment lawyer might think about this new proposal in San Diego to ban "hate littering," which is the proposed euphemism for leafletting with hateful messages.
