Trump is very popular with the Boris Johnson loving Tories and Nigel Farage supporters on the right. They find common ground with MAGA on hatred of immigrants & the politics of perceived social grievances. These are the same sentiments that drove Brexit and were amplified by Murdoch tabloids.

I think people in the US don't understand this point. That there is a large proportion of the UK population who are just as RW and aggrieved as any flag waving Trump supporter. Their image of the UK is formed by period dramas on PBS. It's like thinking all Americans are like the guys in sitcoms
