100% agree, it holds up to me. A little context doesn’t hurt, you get fans don’t know just how revolutionary it seemed, this dark reinterpretation of Batman.. (and Superman).

I love it (I would not have it if I didn’t love it) I just thought it was worth mentioning that in 2024 it’s not quite as universally acclaimed as it was at publication. I own the Absolute Edition too, one of my favorites.

Noice! Love the Supes covers! My top shelf Friday choice for today is a comic that polarizes many fans today. That said back when it came out it was WILDLY popular. This second print is what I have today, as my originals were lost to the mists of time, divorce, & moves.

I didn’t get this till a few years later in a box at a yard sale but it started my infatuation with Phoenix (light and dark) and with Byrne and the X-Men. 8.5/10 cover art for me. Hot AF.

Peter I’m experiencing over the last three weeks the same thing in essence but the reverse. Pearl’s been in hospital and had a lot of problems and “believe it or not I wasn’t always a dog person” (I was a cat person the first 40 years of my life). My best to Ford.

I *love* Jaws. In 2014 on the TCM cruise they played the (at the time) newly remastered Jaws on the ship’s big screen (and as it was a Disney ship the AV/screen/theater setup was awesome) and it rejuvenated my love for the film. Since then, every year it gets a play!

These two American Crows (Corvus brachyrhynchos) came to the bird feeder area this morning. They were a pair - unclear if adult and juvenile or m/f pair. There was a squirrel who chased them off much to my surprise.

Tufts has called and Pearl will spend another night in the hospital. She’s doing a little better though. Fingers crossed. Tonight, I will be caring for Duncan who doesn’t like fireworks. He’s not ultra fearful, but he is not happy.

Pearl was back in ICU last night. She didn’t hold any food down yesterday & was very out of sorts last night. My wife pulled an all-nighter 12am-4am at the Tufts ER waiting for them to see Pearl. I am so grateful for my wife in my life. I don’t handle illnesses in our animals well.

It was part of a Ran DVD box set years ago (2002!!) which I bought & Madadayo inclusion seemed an afterthought to me but I watched it & it cemented Kurosawa as a personal favorite of mine.

Finally starting to catalog the 175 laserdisc purchase (and on the way I plan to just catalog all my discs) on LDDB. I even have a trashy movie (Hunk) I can provide a cover image of!

I talk to rabbits & squirrels in our yard in deep frustration, my dogs, and the huge number of bugs and spiders in our yard regularly. Especially spiders. I’m always asking the ladies to not make a web where I’ll accidentally destroy it.
