Now that the repair is done, time to start customizing it. This is my childhood system, got it on Christmas of '97. I want a translucent shell for it. Deep blue with the amber power LED might be nice.

It's still working perfectly. I am proud to say I fixed my first KSS440-ADM. However I won't be refurbishing these. It's only buying time, but at least the calibration is correct, and CD-R's are working great, no chattering noises, smooth reading. Now to find some games.

The PS1 is well known for not being able to filter textures other than nearest neighbor, however some games like Crash Team Racing somehow emulate it REALLY well.

All fixed! Sometimes you truly need to see the eye pattern and not just use a multimeter. I'm getting consistent boots now, even from CD-R.

I need to get a laser power meter out and scope the eye pattern. I think the APC circuit is shot.

This PS1 is very sick. With a new OEM 440-BAM laser it's now not booting. But now the old laser is? Gameshark modded with soft-mod to play CD-Rs and imports.

Fun fact, did you know that the SNES actually boots up in 8-bit mode, and the CPU needs to be told to switch to 16-bit mode by every game? Design quirk of the 65C816 derived CPU.

Oh good, I got XBMC-Emustation to work with the DVD remote. It was fairly easy, copy a file from regular XBMC, change/add some strings (or you can't access the Application menu or Screensaver) and viola. Now my OG Xbox is the entire HTPC for my bedroom setup, and can launch games and movies by IR.

Yea it's basically the keyboard I learned to type on many years ago so I still am used to the layout. The date code on the 8748 MCU is 1981. So it's an original to the IBM 5150. I just used an atmel inside on the original cables ID port to convert from XT to USB HID.

(I sell online, but primarily to resellers local, therefore we've found it best to keep them at most modded for quality of life improvements like HDMI, RGB for N64, etc, but not to allow piracy to be easier.)

While I have been working on my personal childhood PlayStation 1, my business does not intend to refurb any CD-based game consoles any time soon. Due to how I market these, I cannot actually sell them pre-modded with SD card readers for legal reasons. I wish.

While working on my PS1, fun fact, did you know Twisted Metal lets you use your own music CD as a game soundtrack? It'll just as you to swap discs a bit at times, but it does let you do it.
Newer games need to bring this back, just like how the OG Xbox did it with them stored on the HD.

Getting so tired of repairing the KSS440 laser in my 550x series PS1 that I opted for an extension to use the KSS440-BAM from a PSone on it. Hand held it in place to test, worked great, so now I know for a fact it works with it, just needs the ribbon extended.

Yes, because in general Apple II's were only upper case. You could upgrade them to support lower case and if I remember there was a keyboard mod as well for shift.

Being a cloud is just someone else's computer they're still wrong. 😅 It'd have been better if they compared it to an SD card.

I took these pics when I lived in an apartment complex, and they claimed I was over-reacting with my asthma issues. They kept my deposit when I left and broke lease early, and when I refused to pay the early termination fee, they went after my credit.
They made zero effort to remedy this.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I like immersion, and ok sure, yes I need ammo. But it does break the immersion, surely there's another way.

Yes, that's a Sega Genesis PCB, with Angry Birds on a black and white TV, all with an oscilloscope hooked up. I took this about a decade ago I think.

I'm gonna be honest growing up as a Genesis owner, but now owning more Nintendo hardware than Sega, both had their pros and cons. But even then, we always wished we had both.

Almost 1TB worth of games. Found out what was taking up all of the space on my secondary SSD. At least it's a 2TB SSD, so I have more space, but I should start uninstalling the games I simply do not play anymore (and at least backup the save data).

What an odd voicemail. This is going to my IP phone on my desk. It's never even making it past the screener and is getting dumped in VM land, but this is all it says. The transcription is correct.
Calls every day, same time each time. What the?

I think I had Sega Channel as well. My neighbors had X-Band, but we had Cablevision, and I swear somehow we had a variant of Sega Channel, because I had a cartridge with coax on it, and remember to use it had to move the Genny to the livingroom since our house had a single hookup.

I needed one badly, especially when the family likes to share a lot of large media for music studio work. We needed a NAS, because flash drives going back and forth was starting to get old fast.

7 years ago, I weighed 280lbs, I was in the hospital from blood clots and on something called an ecmo machine. My chance of living was in the single percent, and my blood oxygen was 37%. After both experiencing death, survival and a drive to improve my health, I am now 148lbs.
I succeeded.

Yea that's not a train issue. That's a driver issue.
Though to be fair here in FL we've had some issues with the Sunrail with signal equipment malfunction. Still not the train or conductors fault.
