I stand corrected. Maybe another Senator found out more about Al's past and told him that would be revealed during said investigation and that's why he resigned.

I'm pretty sure that the person who knew exactly how many more women might step forward was Al Franken. And he chose to resign.

No, just six days after the committee started an investigation, some 26 Democratic senators demanded he resign immediately. He was then given an ultimatum by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to resign by 5pm on December 6 or face possible censure and the loss of all of his committee assignments.
