Eh, I don’t think every superhero kid needs to get the exact same power set as their parent. They could have used a canon element from the comics, and then undid it (just like the comics!) when they got the Magneto rights. Instead they jumped the gun on retconning it.

Well, they didn't even need the Whizzer. When they brought them in they could've just said "Oh, those were the Maximoffs who died" and revealed stuff. But really, they didn't even care to keep Quicksilver alive in the MCU.
