A shot across the bow of the SCT? FDR back in the day made political maneuvers that brought a rogue court under control.Dems may well control the House in Jan 2025. Second, yes, it does seem like a GOP theater performance. If Dems controlled the House, there could be subpoenas, testimony...but.....

It is also how I feel about a lot of overpriced trophy wines these days. Other things are acceptable alternatives and good enough.

$20. What did the owner/manager say? If I'm the owner, those ladies get blacklisted. If you're not going to pay your waitstaff yourself and you make them work for tips, then at least stand behind them and make sure they get some.

The media is in a feeding frenzy. And it's reporting without balance. Here's one that gets it right:

I'd say the way it is shaping up, it comes down to the 2016 scenario--win the old Blue Wall states of PA, MI, WI, and you win. Lose them, you lose. But there is a lot of time left.

I would like to use this as another occasion to jump on Twitter's head--and maybe they did do something extra dumb--but I wonder these days if there is anyplace actually safe. (Does BlueSky have 2FA yet, after opening to the world?)

Bobby Goldsboro's Honey, but that may be far worse than second worst. Admittedly, there is a lot of competition. I have limited myself to songs that make you wish for a sensory deprivation chamber. Even so, it's a long list.

So many good quotes. BlueSky's character limits again impede. That one finishes:
"Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character.â
This passage sums up Trump in a nutshell.

Exactly. If he won't get out--doesn't seem to be happening--time to stop talking about it and working to re-elect. The constant frenzy is a problem in and of itself. Time to stop feeding it.
I don't want to hear in 2025 "But he was old..." the way we use "but her emails...." now.

Propaganda, politics, are all they are good at. They have zero policies or programs that are hugely popular. Add Covid mishandling, Iraq, Recession...Add do-nothing House--but talk about Drag Queens. Yet, they not only keep existing, they are still powerful. No one has been this good since Goebbels.

This 2010 Syrah opened fat, a little flat and jammy, very ripe and unctuous on the finish, but with little focus. The alcohol showed a bit too.Much better the next day, it coated the palate with a wave of fruit and showed off power. I started liking this a lot more. A holiday treat. Then, $150, 15.2%

And that is really the point. No one can deny it's a legit story. But the imbalance is astonishing. You can report the news accurately and yet still slant and color it by positioning coverage in quantity and placement. That's where we are.

That's what they said about this one too. I was pretty sure it would go forward because neither of them could afford to back out.
Why wouldn't Trump want it, considering what happened in the first one? And if Biden backs out, that will be a big red flag.

Term limitations are not far superior; depends. They are an important part of reform, but will cut both ways. For instance, Sottomayor and Roberts would have to go soon, as well as Alito and Thomas. Net Pickup: 2. Expand the court: net pickup 4. AND it addresses the urgency of today's issues.

If Biden today is not for expanding the court--something he has no power to do, of course--I'd be surprised. But I guess, who knows.

"also the appointment of special council Smith was an abuse of Presidential power...." Yes, contradictory, but that doesn't bother them any more. This is the latest fringe theory floating around the right (is anything fringe?). Didn't Cannon just hold a hearing on it? Watch her toss the case now.

Heading into the holiday, American wines. This 2013 (all Riesling, a blend of producers ð) is in nice shape, but predictably stern. Aromatic for starters, it adds a touch of steel, a hint of petrol and a stonewashed, dry and tense finish. Screwcapped, this [âĶ]

In all the talk of no one's above the law, keep in mind, the law can and often does change to support those in power. Pretty soon, they will legally shoot you. All hands on deck. You have one assignment in November. NOTHING else matters.

They recently had hearings making arguments similar to this in the case in front of Cannon in Florida. Watch what happens. It's another right wing fringe theory, but as we have seen with the Supreme Court, it does not really matter how kooky it is, it finds some appeal with the GOP judges.

Heh. At one point, I was voice dictating a lot of emails etc and of course at the end of a sentence I would say "period" for punctuation.
I was later asked to give a speech live and--humiliation!--at several junctures I said, "period" for no real reason. Humiliating. Stuff happens.

I have a relative who is like that. Her life is funded by social security and Medicare, without which she would be on the street. She rails against socialism and baby killers. She doesn't get the irony and she swallows every right-wing meme that comes along.

My supermarket has many of the same products. And a security guard. You know how many products are locked away? None. I shop there or Amazon.
