I posted this 2 years ago on tumblr after John Mulaney brought Dave Chapelle onstage for his Columbus show. I bought tickets to that show and my kids (who are LGBT) were in the audience That really stung

I'm so sorry, Marti--I remember that show. (my sister in Columbus phoned me immediately to explain the situation, because she knew how sad and disappointed I'd be.) this is a really wise response.

(And I know in this case there are people who have inside knowledge they're talking about. But this is an example where lots of people were saying it was to be expected because of his cheating on his wife and fathering a child with the mistress. i had been unaware of any of that)
