I’m sure I read something in 2020 about how strange it was that the flu epidemic of 1918-1919 basically left no cultural trace despite killing more people that the Great War that preceded it and now we know why I guess. It was a shit time, even if your job was secure!

We get heaps of sports betting apps in Australia and have for years. Several years ago my then 8yo son asked me ‘what’s Sportsbet dad? Is it like Rebel Sport?’ Rebel is our biggest sports retailer. It made me sad.

There’s a theory that the Spanish flu was a reemergence of the Russian flu of 1889. The reason the 1920 epidemic didn’t kill old folks wfolks was they were the immune survivors of 30 years before. Both were likely coronaviruses that are now the ‘common cold’
