I thought of the "Sugar Shack" that's a coffeehouse in the song. And I think there's a Snak Shak that's more or less a diner in the Robertson Davies novel Tempest Tost. 1962 and 1951 respectively. Just a couple of data points. Shellfish never quit having shacks, though.
