The "consistent ethic of life" was always a lie, because the opposition to abortion is about enforcing women's adherence to gender norms. If they really thought abortion was murder, they would be the nation's biggest contraception-pushers.

There are some among them who genuinely believe that contraception is also murder. I know three people personally who have actually said this. It’s mind bogglingly ridiculous, but it helps clarify why that isn’t an option in their brains.
