I was searching for something animated to watch and apparently season 1 of Star Trek Lower Decks was free on prime video. Episode 1 was pretty great. These animated shows are bringing me back to Star Trek.

Anyway, I was going through the Yamato films this year because I want to a special thing in September for the blog. Hopefully to celebrate the appearance of more Yamato anime on this side of the world too. If not, then more Yamato content anyway. Yamato is great.

I watched Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection today and it was pretty great. Solid Sci Fi and Yamato stuff. Wouldn't be upset if this was an alternative universe were we saw more of this Yamato crew instead of 2199 and beyond, but I like this current universe too.

I thought there was something familiar about Lupin III: The Secret of Twilight Gemini's character designs and yeah, from Minoru Maeda who was behind so many parts of dragon Ball. Fits that this movie is using dbz's dub cast.

New Code Geass and Megaton Musashi slowly appearing on Crunchyroll have been filling my new Mecha needs for now.

No Grendizer U yet, but a new Ultraman did start and it's pretty cool so far. Arc didn't have as an explosive first episode as Blazar, but none of that Ultra series I've watched have so far. Just a great and innovative first episode to introduce the new Ultra and cast.

Had another monotonous day of work, so watched more stuff while working. Yeah, I couldn't recommend Star Trek Prodigy enough. It kind of rocks and season 3, if it happens, sounds like so much fun. I also finished Scavenger's Reign today. Loved it to death.

I miss older Star ship designs though because most of them look like The Sovereign class/Enterprise E now. The Voyager A is so boring, bring back the Dauntless because at least it was distinct. Protostar still pretty decent for a design fitting what it's meant for.

I watched most of Star Trek Prodigy season 2 during work today because I was doing monotonous work that I needed something in the background to keep my focus. I do like it quite a bit. Maj'el the Vulcan is a great addition to the cast. Possibly a new favorite cast member in an already good cast.

Final Yamato watched. 😭 Damn, that's two powerful things I've watched today. (The other was the finale of Sound! Euphonium Season 3)

Planning on when to watch movies is hard. That's why I mainly watch anime TV series because each episode is shorter then 24 minutes and you can fit that time anywhere. Planning to watch Final Yamato that held the longest run time of an animated film for almost 4 decades is hard

I've always been more of a DC person instead of Marvel, though I did like the X-Men and Spiderman. I'm happy that there is more DC animated stuff to watch. My Adventures With Superman has been really good this season, Suicide Squad Isekai is pretty fun, and there is more batman coming in. 😁

I also watched Mars Express and I guess it was a sci fi day which is the best kind of day honestly. There was a little Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Arc sprinkled in too. Never a bad addition to anything.

I'm not sure the anime industry has been healthy, but there is a difference in sicknesses isn't there?

Today is another Space Battleship Yamato day with "Be Forever Yamato". How did they continue to make one movie a year of peak fiction like this back then? It's insane. Also me when a sci fi movie does sci fi things:

Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture is definitely more Code Geass. I will say that in a good way because it comes with an interesting angle. Definitely a soft reboot though. Please let the Nightmare Frames stay on the ground. We need more ground mecha combat stuff.

The strangest though I've had all day was "I have new Code Geass stuff to watch when I come home." It's true, but still strange.

More people need to watch Stellvia of the Universe. Honestly, a stealth favorite show of mine because there is absolutely nothing like it. It's very Sci Fi in a way that I love and the Blu Ray from Discotek looks amazing. Watch it and enjoy your trip to space school.

YOU need to watch Macross Plus. It's a 4 episode OVA, you don't need to know anything about Macross. You need to watch this because it captures the majesty of flight, art, love, rivalry, jealousy, and frames it in a fictionalization of the F-22 and F-23 development program, its insane!!!

But then I watched the first episode of Scavenger's Reign and it's very minimalistic and didn't like it much either. The execution of it feels wrong and I don't know why.

I that my list of Western animation is limited to my interests, but there is something about the dialogue in newer shows that feels off to me. I was thinking about how Western animation from my sample size are not episodic so they have to develop characters and plot unnaturallly. (1/2)

The Mahiru episodes of Jellyfish are the best ones honestly. Mahiru has really been carrying the show for me and the show will probably end well. There are so many weird stops along the way which hampers it quite a bit. Especially after the very strong beginning.

They really have a character in Fighting General Daimos named Gurney Halleck. Just straight up. I'm glad that Nagahama and the production team were fans of Dune as well.

Ultraman Rising kind of rules. It's a beautiful movie visually almost on a spider verse level that also looks at a lot of the ideas of Ultraman and condenses them in a cute and easy to understand way. Give it a try if you do or do not know Ultraman.

Now starting Kamen Rider Geats. I guess I am being slowly absorbed by Kamen Rider though no where near as much as Ultraman.

the problem with having both rainbow holographic heat transfer vinyl and a vinyl cutter is that the only thing stopping me from making pride shirts for horrible fictional companies is my own taste, and unfortunately I thought “happy pride from Anaheim Electronics” was hilarious
