I was focused more on the narrow legal meaning of liberty, which loops to the idea that only those with private property could participate in something resembling democracy. Which might relate to concepts of freedom, but I’m not a scholar of 1600s England when these ideas were hotly debated.

Liberty and freedom are very diffuse terms that have carried a lot of distinct connotations at different times and places, and in some you can parse out a distinction between them. But I'd say they were always used mostly interchangeably and as near-synonyms, including in Revolutionary-era America.
