Starbucks has added plastic to its paper cups to make them even more single-use, so you can't recycle or compost them. They also added a horrifying little graphic of a discarded cup murdering a sea turtle.
I feel so awful for the graphic designer who had to make this
We Proudly Serve DEATH
I personally hate the symbol (and have had to place it on cups for my last job) as it shifts the blame of dead turtles on the consumer. Giant colossal fishing nets scrape the seas empty, the discarded ones snaring turtles by the truckload, but no, its booh on us for cups and straws.
Iโm very confused by the prohibitory barred circle on the left, and the endorsifying lack of that circle on the right. Iโm getting, โWhen you see one of these crumpled on the sidewalk, do not use your hand to pick it up, or it may not reach the water where a turtle needs to be killed.โ
The turtle murder symbol isnโt made by Starbucks, itโs on pretty much every menstruation hygiene product already.
Them adding extra plastics to the cup on the other hand is just vile and Iโm glad my region has regulation for this alreadyโฆ
