Die salto is een goed punt. Meursault, meurs, mort, mourir, dood, sault, saut, sprong, salto. Een sprong in de dood, nihilististischer wordt het niet. Meursault is ter dood veroordeeld voor het plegen van een zinloze moord.

Dat was ook wel een beetje de tijdgeest. We aten thuis vooral doorgekookte groente met aardappelen en jus en vlees en dus ook elleboogjesmacaroni, maar dan niet met smack.

Jij weet dit natuurlijk omdat jij in je jonge jaren werkte als ketelbinkie. Je bent toen ooit onder een brug in een rivier gestrand en moest overleven op een dieet van rivierkreeftjes. Om die te vangen moest je rivierhaai bij de staart pakken.
