Pretty astounding that Canada's 2023 wildfires emitted four times more carbon than global aviation, but these emissions are not counted under Canada's accounting standards.

Tree carbon is part of the carbon cycle, and would emit in composting, too, while aviation fuel introduces carbon that was stuck in the ground for millions of years.
