The best thing it did still hasn't been to my knowledge fully imitated anywhere: conversations where the player's primary mode of self expression is choosing how to stand, sit, or pace around the room during a scene. You get to act!

I started an interrogation of a mourning mother standing by her bedroom door, slowly crossed the room, and finally sat with her on the bed as I asked my most invasive questions. That's high-level gameplay. (Later you learn the real significance of that scene and it completely collapses, of course.)
